May 22, 2018

With Father’s day just round the corner, we’ve compiled some ideas of things to do in the Bath & Bristol area.  There’s plenty going on in the Southwest to entertain the Dads and Granddads in your life….

Planes, trains and automobiles

Bath festival of motoring will take place over the weekend at Walcot Rugby Ground with a display of classic cars and motorbikes and includes lots of family friendly activities and live music.  Ashton Court miniature railway has a steam special public running day on Sunday.  If Dad’s into aviation, head to Aerospace Bristol.  They offer gift tickets which give unlimited return visits for a year.

Family days

Longleat is a great day out but for extra fun, they’ve got 14 animatronic predators around the park and Bristol Zoo have their Dinomania exhibition with animatronic dinosaurs.  At Avon Valley adventure and wildlife park, it’s Superhero day on Sunday.  Dad’s dressed as superheros receive free entry.  Noahs Ark Zoo Farm are offering a special Father’s day package including an animal encounter.

Bristol food connections runs throughout the city from the 11th – 17th June and celebrates Bristol food culture.  It includes cooking masterclasses and family activities.  Cheltenham will be hosting their food and drink festival over the entire father’s day weekend.  The Pump rooms in Bath are taking bookings for a Father’s day Somerset afternoon tea with an apple twist including Orchard Pig cider.  Lucknam Park are offering an Ale and Whisky afternoon tea.  The Cosy Club in Bath are offering free slippers to every Dad ordering a main meal.

Prior Park Landscape gardens in Bath are hosting a father’s day BBQ on Sunday.  Over fathers day weekend, and throughout the year, Avebury are running a Wiltshire Landscape walking challenge.  If you enjoy walking, grab your map and get exploring.  Again, over the weekend and throughout the year, Westonbirt arboretum have their Highway rat activity trail.

Something a little different

Big Fish Little Fish will host a Father’s day rave with a beach party theme at Bristol's Trinity Centre on Sunday.  Advance booking required.
