If you’re travelling through Bristol airport with a baby or child, here’s a few tips to help make your journey run smoothly…
1. Finding your way
Bristol airport is a 20 minutes drive from Bristol or Cheddar and 30 minutes from Bath (Postcode BS48 3DY). Despite recent expansions, Bristol airport is still relatively small and easy to get around. Just a short walk from arrivals and departures and clearly signposted, you’ll find several car hire companies as well as a brand new hotel. There’s a variety of cafes and restaurants on site and several toilets and baby change facilities so you’ll always find one close by.
2. Baby equipment
Baby equipment including car seats, travel cots, buggies, high chairs and toy boxes can be hired by us - Hiremebaby. We're a local rental company who can meet you at arrivals or departures or at your hire car. We also offer welcome packs of nappies, wipes and baby food to make your journey a little bit easier.
3. Play time
If your little ones need to immediately let off some steam before or after your flight, you’ll find the nearest playground just a few minutes away – Oatfield play area (Postcode BS48 3ED). If you’re looking for a day of fun, try Noahs Ark Zoo farm, 15 minutes drive from the airport offering a variety of animals to meet plus indoor and outdoor play areas.
4. Feeding time
If you’re looking for somewhere close by Bristol airport to eat and want something a little bit wonderful, Yeo Valley canteen is only 4 miles away. Set in a stunning location with views across Blagdon lake and serving really tasty local food. You’ll need to book ahead and they’re not open at weekends.
5. Check in and security
Make check in and security easier by using the Superdrug pre order service for baby food and milk. Place your order in advance by calling Superdrug on 01275 475565 and pick your order up from duty free once you’ve cleared security. If you’re taking baby milk through security, make sure it’s max 100ml.
6. Entertaining the kids at the airport
Check out the viewing area to watch the planes or take a walk outside on the outdoor terrace. There’s a few arcade games and childrens rides on the first floor of the departure lounge and Burger King provide a big screen showing children’s TV.
